Greta Thunberg, nascida em 3 de janeiro de 2003, é uma ativista ambiental sueca de Estocolmo.
   É conhecida, principalmente, por ser a líder do movimento greve das escolas pelo clima.

Greta Thunberg ausentava-se das aulas para protestar, próxima ao parlamento sueco, exigindo por mais ações para mitigar as mudanças climáticas por parte dos políticos de seu país. Isto inspirou estudantes de outras comunidades a fazer o mesmo.

  Em 20 de agosto de 2018, Greta, no nono ano, decidiu não frequentar a escola até as eleições da Suécia, em 9 de setembro, depois de ondas de calor e incêndios no seu país. Seus pedidos foram que o governo da Suécia reduzisse as emissões de carbono, e protestou sentando do lado de fora do Riksdag todos os dias, durante o horário escolar com o sinal de "Skolstrejk för klimatet" ("greve da escola pelo clima").
